The SIT program offers Resellers, System Integrators as well as Synology business users the opportunity to train and certify their knowledge, all from the comfort of their home with a live course delivered 100% online. Interested parties can choose from different SIT modules. For newcomers, the "DSM Starter" training course is recommended. Building on this, the DSM module provides further important foundations and is the perfect introduction to SIT training and certifications. Synology is constantly expanding its offering of SIT modules.
Pure training modules such as "DSM Starter" and "Synology Directory Server" (in planning) do not include certification and are not part of the Synology Partner Program. Further details on the available training modules can be found on the respective pages.
Training modules & certification
All SIT training modules are held by a technical trainer and automatically include participation in the respective course certification.
Each SIT module combines live demonstrations with formal learning content, practical hands-on exercises and a final certification test. Depending on the training module, the duration of the course is one or two days.
The pure training modules are complementary courses and do not include certification.
For those new to Synology's NAS ecosystem, we recommend the DSM Starter module, as it covers the fundamentals necessary for the other modules.

DSM Architect

This module gives an insight into the advanced configurations and applications of Synology DSM, notably selecting suitable hardware, configuring DSM for specific environments, as well as optimising security and maintenance-related settings. The course requires initial experience with DSM and forms the basis for other SIT modules.

This course does not cover entry-level issues and is aimed at experienced users who already have initial experience with Synology and DSM. DSM Starter
Training | 1 Tag
This one-day course is aimed at all those with little to no experience of Synology products, or who want to consolidate their basic knowledge of Synology and DSM. The course provides an overview of the Synology product portfolio and its most important features. Basic settings of DSM v7.x are developed in a practical way. We address general questions such as selecting suitable hard drives, choosing the right RAID type, configuring secure remote access or managing ACL permissions for secure file access in Windows and Mac environments.
Info: The content of this course is a pre-requisite for the DSM Architect. If you have little to no basic knowledge of DSM and Synology, we recommend that you attend this DSM Starter course before DSM Archtect.

Who is the Synology Intensive Training (SIT) designed for?
The program is aimed at resellers, system integrators, IT consultants and business users who distribute or use Synology products. The program is not aimed at private end users.
Can training and certifications be booked individually?
No. SIT Architect courses always include training and taking the certification. The pure training courses such as "DSM Starter" are pure training without certification.
Who delivers the trainings and certifications?
Courses for United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland (delivered in English) are delivered by Wilkon Academy, a long standing Synology partner, who have designed the content and certification, and have many years of experience delivering SIT in the German and Austrian markets.
How long does a course take?
Depending on the scope of the topic, a course lasts one or two days. You can view the exact duration when booking the respective course.
Where do the trainings take place?
SIT trainings for UK / Ireland take place from the comfort of your workplace and are moderated live by our trainers.
Do I have to take part in the training to perform the certification?
Yes. The certification is part of every SIT module and is carried out directly after the training. Pure certification tests cannot be booked individually.
Do I need to take the certification test?
No. The certification is not mandatory. However, only participants who have successfully completed the test receive certificate documents. However, the certificates count as part of the partner program. Participation in the course does not.
When are the certifications performed?
The certifications are carried out on the same day, directly after the respective training. The results are shown on website and the certificates are available there for download.
What happens if you don't pass the certification?
Each participant has the option to repeat the certification twice. First, on the day of the certification, a repeat can be done free of charge. A second chance can be done online within a week for a fee. If the test is not passed after the second repetition, the certification cannot be delivered. Participants have to rebook the respective training module in order to retake the certification.
How long is my certificate valid? When do I need to recertify?

Yes, as long as you are comfortable with English, you are more than welcome. System Integrators outside of UK and Ireland looking to achieve official partner status should check whether the local Synology team if and how SIT certifications give access to the local partner programme.
What does Synology Partner mean and how can I register?
Resellers, consultants or system integrators with a focus on Synology products and services can register as Synology Partners free of charge. Partners receive special advantages who reach an official partner level due to their turnover and/or SIT certifications. Depending on the status achieved, Synology Partners can receive a dedicated account manager at Synology, Trial units, NFR pricing and advantageous project support. How do the Architect courses differ from pure training courses?
The architect courses include training and official certification. These are part of the Synology Partner Program
