This module gives an insight into the advanced configurations and applications of Synology DSM, notably selecting suitable hardware, configuring DSM for specific environments, as well as optimising security and maintenance-related settings. The course requires initial experience with DSM and forms the basis for other SIT modules.
This course does not cover entry-level issues and is aimed at experienced users who already have initial experience with Synology and DSM. For beginners or anyone wishing to be fully prepared, we recommend the training course "SIT Starter" Knowledge of the topics covered in this course is required and are also form part of the questions of the certification exam.
Storage Manager & System DesignThis two-day intensive course covers project planning for build a Surveillance solution, from small installations up to large-scale projects, including multi-site setups with central management of a cluster. Learn how to protect your Synology system with Hyper Backup and Snapshot Replication, and how Active Backup can protect and restore physical, virtual, and SaaS environments without licence or support costs.
This one-day module provides an overview and key information about Synology's ActiveProtect appliances. Attendees get an overview of the components of a multi-site ActiveProtect infrastructure and their added value compared to DSM-based backup solutions. It also covers the first steps to setting up an APM appliance, including backing up and restoring Windows, Linux, and Microsoft 365 data. The training also includes the integration of Synology NAS systems, hypervisors, and remote storage into an ActiveProtect site. Finally, further topics such as security, airgapping and failover are discussed.
This one-day course is aimed at all those with little to no experience of Synology products, or who want to consolidate their basic knowledge of Synology and DSM. The course provides an overview of the Synology product portfolio and its most important features. Basic settings of DSM v7.x are developed in a practical way. We address general questions such as selecting suitable hard drives, choosing the right RAID type, configuring secure remote access or managing ACL permissions for secure file access in Windows and Mac environments.
